  1. File Settings:                                                                                                                                                      * Set "Word wrap" on if you wish to have lines in text files wrap at a            predefined length. This feature is useful in word processing.                                                                                                 * Set  "Line length for text files"  to the length  at which  you wish            word wrap to occur.                                                                                                                                           * Set "Line length for non-text files"  to the length you wish to have            lines wraped in  non-text files.  For data files  this would  be the            record length,  and for other types of  non-text files would usually            be the screen width.                                                                                                                                          * Enter  "Default extension" if you wish  to automatically have an ex-            tension added to any file name  you enter which does not have an ex-            tension.  To prevent the  extension  from being  added to a filename            without an extension, add a period to the end of the filename.                                                                                                * Set "Automatic backup"  on if you  wish to have  each file  you edit            automatically copied to a backup file before you begin editing.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Press Esc to exit/any other key to continue...                                   File Settings (cont):                                                                                                                                               * Set "Journaling" on if you wish to have your edit sessions recorded.            If journaled,  a edit session can be played back and stopped  at any            point.                                                                                                                                                        * Set  "Tab expansion in text files"  on if you wish  to have  the tab            symbols in text files replaced by string of eight spaces.                                                                                                     * Set "Append EOL to text files"  on if you wish to have an EOL marker            (ASCII 26) appended to the end of text files.                                                                                                                                                                                             Edit Settings:                                                                                                                                                      * Set "Typing mode" default to either overtype or insert as you prefer.                                                                                         * Set "Typematic speed" to change the rate at which a keystroke is re-            peated when a key is pressed and held.  This effects cursor movement            and scroll rate. 0 is the slowest and 10 is the fastest rate. Exper-            iment to determine the best rate for you and your computer.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Press Esc to exit/PgUp or  for previous page/any other key to continue...       Edit Settings (cont):                                                                                                                                               * Set "Auto-indent" on to write source code or an outline. This aligns            the beginning  of each new line  with the  beginning of the previous            line.                                                                                                                                                         * Set "Columns to indent"  to the  number of  spaces  you wish to have            skipped by indenting.                                                                                                                                         * Set  "Tab positions"  that you wish  to use in your text files.  The            tabs may be entered in any order. The maximum that can be entered in            the Setup module is 10. If tabs are entered in the editor ruler line            a maximum of 100 can be entered.                                                                                                                              * Set "Columns in screen shift" to the number of columns you  want the            the screen shifted to the left when  Shift-F1 is pressed and shifted            to the right when Shift-F2 is pressed.                                                                                                                        * Set  "Display  <C>olumn or  <F>ile position"  to display the current            column, or to display the position of the cursor in the file.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Press Esc to exit/PgUp or  for previous page/any other key to continue... Edit Settings (cont):                                                                                                                                               * Set  "Size of cursor"  to your preference.  The default  size is the            largest.  Choose any size from a dash to the full size by entering a            number within the range 1 to 12 for monochrome and 1 to 7 for color.                                                                                          * Set  "Display end-of-line symbols"  on to display  a symbol for each            carriage return. Use this option  if you need to see the true end of            each line.                                                                                                                                                    * Set "Display spaces"  on if you  wish to have spaces in the file re-            presented by "∙" on the screen.                                                                                                                               * Set  "Display non-text symbols"  off if you do not wish to have con-            trol and non-ASCII characters in the file displayed on the screen.                                                                                            * Set "Produce matching symbols" on if you wish to have the symbols [,            {, (, ", and ' respectively  matched by ], }, ), ", and '  when they            are entered. Insert mode must be on for this feature to be active.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Press Esc to exit/PgUp or  for previous page/any other key to continue...       Edit Settings (cont):                                                                                                                                               * Set "Number of lines to display" to the number  of lines you wish to            have displayed on the edit screen.  The default setting is 21 lines.            On a normal screen  use 22 lines if you wish to push  the bottom in-            formation line off the screen.                                                                                                                                * Set "Number of columns to display" to the number of columns you wish            displayed on the edit screen. The default setting is 80 columns.                                                                                              * Set "Columns in screen width" to correspond to the number of columns            that are displayed  on your screen.  The default setting is  80 col-            umns.  This figure must be correct  in order for the  editor to work            properly.                                                                                                                                                     * Set "EGA 43/VGA 50 line on"  if you are using an EGA/VGA monitor and            wish to display additional lines on the screen.  An EGA monitor will            display 43 lines  (39 lines of edit screen)  and a  VGA monitor will            display 50 lines (46 lines of edit screen).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Press Esc to exit/PgUp or  for previous page/any other key to continue...       Screen Settings (color monitors only):                                                                                                                              * Set "Foreground color" to the color you wish  to use for the charac-            ters on the edit screen.                                                                                                                                      * Set  "Background color"  to the color you wish  to use for the back-            ground on the edit screen.                                                                                                                                    * Set  "Menu foreground color"  to the color  you wish to  use for the            characters in the menus.                                                                                                                                      * Set  "Menu background color"  to the color  you wish to  use for the            background in the menus.                                                                                                                                      * Set the  "Menu bar color foreground color"  to the color you wish to            use for the characters in the menu bounce bar.                                                                                                                * Set the  "Menu bar color background color"  to the color you wish to            use for the background in the menu bounce bar.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Press Esc to exit/PgUp or  for previous page/any other key to continue...
